Most skincare brands talk about self-care. Myokine talks about self-respect through movement.

Jordan and Emma built Myokine to solve a problem they were living: workouts left them feeling great, but their skin was paying the price. Long skincare routines didn’t fit into real, everyday lives. Emma’s busy schedule meant she kept skipping skincare or, worse, skipping workouts. Jordan, a cosmetic doctor and skincare enthusiast, knew the solution had to be science-backed and effective.

The result is Myokine Refresh, a post-workout facial spray designed specifically for athletes. Not Instagram athletes. Real people who train regularly and need skincare that keeps up with movement, sweat, and recovery.

The Brief

This is the third company Jordan has brought to us. When someone keeps coming back, it’s because the relationship works. He needed a Shopify website that positioned Myokine properly, made purchasing simple, and converted visitors into customers from launch day.

The key requirements:

  • Custom Shopify build that reflects the premium, science-backed nature of the product
  • Clean design that works across all devices
  • Straightforward purchasing experience optimised for conversion
  • Easy-to-manage backend so the team can run marketing and store operations themselves
  • Professional presentation that positions Myokine at the premium end of the athletic skincare market

The Solution

We built the site around the core positioning: skincare that keeps up with movement, sweat, and recovery.

The brand name itself tells the story. Myokines are powerful molecules released by your muscles during exercise that signal repair, regeneration, and balance throughout the body, including the skin. The products are built on the same principle, harnessing the body’s own recovery mechanisms to restore and strengthen skin health.

Myokine Refresh addresses a specific problem. Sweat, heat, friction, and bacteria disrupt the skin barrier, upset pH, and trigger inflammation after training. Most people either skip skincare entirely or deal with complicated routines that don’t fit into their day. Refresh steps in immediately after workouts to reset the environment so skin recovers like muscles do.

The product page breaks down exactly what it does:

  • Rebalances and soothes: Actibiome supports healthy skin microbiota and reduces post-workout redness
  • Energises tired skin: Sepitonic M3 mineral complex boosts cellular vitality
  • Strengthens barrier: Niacinamide improves moisture retention and resilience
  • Comforts and hydrates: D-Panthenol and Squalane support repair without feeling greasy
  • Smooths and softens: Allantoin refines roughness and enhances comfort

We designed the site for convenience. Keep it in your gym bag. Mist it on after training. Done. That’s the entire product promise, and the website needed to communicate that simplicity whilst maintaining the science-backed credibility.

The Technical Bit

Custom Shopify build with custom code for exact design execution. This isn’t a template site. When you’re launching a premium product in a competitive market, the presentation matters.

We optimised the purchasing experience for conversion. Clear product information, straightforward checkout, mobile-responsive design. Every element designed to reduce friction between interest and purchase.

We also provided video training on marketing and store management. Jordan and Emma can run their business without needing to contact us every time they want to update something. That independence matters when you’re launching and iterating quickly.

The Results

Myokine now has a professional e-commerce store ready to sell from launch day. Clean design, simple checkout, and a user experience built to convert.

Jordan’s feedback: “I reached out to Alex and the AW Media team to help with my website for my new skincare product designed for athletes. This is my third company that I have entrusted with the team and based on Alex’s responsiveness I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Communication is key when you have lots of moving parts and Alex is always on hand when you need him. One of the main reasons I keep coming back to AW is the exemplary aftercare and longer-term relationship I’ve built with Alex.”

What Other Product-Based Businesses Can Learn

If you’re launching a physical product, your Shopify store needs to do several things well:

  1. 1Solve a specific problem: Myokine doesn’t try to be all things to all people. It targets the everyday athlete who needs simple, effective post-workout skincare. That specificity makes the messaging clear and the audience defined.
  2. 2Educate without overwhelming: The product page explains the science behind the ingredients without sounding like a textbook. People need to understand why it works, but they don’t need a chemistry degree to buy it.
  3. 3Make purchasing dead simple: Every additional step in your checkout process is a chance for someone to abandon their purchase. We optimised for conversion by removing unnecessary friction.
  4. 4Position appropriately: Myokine is a premium, science-backed product. The website design, photography, and messaging all reflect that positioning.

Myokine represents a new approach to athletic skincare. Built by people who actually train, backed by science, designed for convenience. Now they’ve got an e-commerce store that properly represents that.

If your Shopify store looks like everyone else’s template or makes purchasing complicated, you’re losing sales. Simple as that.
