Your Prices Are Set Before You Say A Word

Your Prices Are Set Before You Say A Word

By the time someone asks what you charge, they have already decided what you are worth. They did it in seconds, off how you look. Most businesses never find out the ceiling exists.

By the time someone asks what you charge, they have already priced you. They did it in the first few seconds of looking at your logo, your website, your Instagram grid. Nobody announces it. It just quietly becomes the number they expect to hear.

Quote under that number and they are comfortable. Quote over it and they flinch, ask for time to think, and go quiet. The frustrating part is that the number was never about your work. It came from how the work was dressed.

Where the number comes from

People cannot judge what they have not bought yet, so they judge what they can see. A logo knocked up for free years ago. Colours that shift between the website and the socials. Graphics with a template feel that half their feed also uses. None of it is a crime. All of it whispers the same thing: small operation, keep the budget low.

Now look at the competitor charging more than you for less. Consistent look everywhere. Confident type. A site that feels like it cost money. Their customers do not think they are being overcharged. The presentation made the price feel normal before anyone spoke.

What changes when the look matches the level

  • Your quotes stop being a shock, because the expectation was set before you sent them.
  • Better clients start appearing. Serious buyers filter themselves toward businesses that look serious.
  • Price conversations get shorter. Proof and presentation have done the arguing in advance.
  • You stop discounting to close, because you are no longer apologising for how things look.

This is not about a fancy logo

A brand is the whole first impression working as one thing. The mark, the colours, the type, the way the website and the socials and the proposal all clearly belong to the same business. We have built over 450 brands and the ones that shift pricing power are never the flashiest. They are the ones that make the customer think this business knows exactly what it is doing.
