Konk Electrical

An electrical and automation company wiring high-end homes across Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. We built their old site a few years back and they'd outgrown it. The brief was five lines: clean, bold, out of the ordinary, fast and to the point. We rebuilt it in WordPress with a homepage you fly through, a page for every project, and a way to edit the lot by clicking on it.

Thechallenge.

1

Their clients are architects, builders and homeowners who notice when a switch plate sits two mil out. Most of them see the website before they see the work, so it had to meet the same standard.

2

The brief asked for bold and out of the ordinary, because they aren't the same as the rest. A hero and three boxes was never going to do that.

3

Fast mattered just as much. No lag from the click, to the scroll, to the next page.

4

Four trades, thirteen projects, five suburbs, their reels and their Instagram. It all had to stay easy to get round, and easy for them to keep up to date.

Ourapproach.

Designed from their own material: the warm brass that runs through their photography, the cut corner of the O in the KONK wordmark, and their own project photos throughout.

The homepage isn't sections. It's one continuous flight. Scroll and the work comes towards you, one trade at a time, and the last thing it lands on is Send an enquiry.

Move the mouse and a light follows it, lifting whatever it passes. Like running a torch over a finished wall to check it.

Rebuilt in WordPress as a custom plugin that carries the whole design, with no page builder underneath it.

A click-to-edit editor. The flight can't be edited mid-air, so the editor lays each page out flat, styled the way it looks, and they click the words or a photo to change it.

Every project gets its own page and photo gallery, added from a Recent Work section in the dashboard. Their reels play on the homepage and the work page, and the latest Instagram posts pull straight in.

A page for each trade and for five suburbs, Point Piper to Bellevue Hill, each with its own local copy. Business details marked up for Google and linked to their Business Profile, and every old address redirected to its new page.

Scroll and the work flies towards you, one trade at a time, then lands on Send an enquiry. Below it, the finish nobody sees and their own reels.
